Spice Temple Melbourne Launches Elegant Bar Experience

Thursday, 7 September 2023: Spice Temple Melbourne has unveiled a new bar experience at Crown Complex, offering an affordable snack-style version of its unique, regional Chinese menu to pair with bespoke cocktails and a diverse drinks list.

Spice Temple Bar has its own entrance below the popular restaurant, accessible from level B1. The elegant space is open seven days a week, from 4pm until late, making it a convenient destination for pre-dinner drinks and bites before dining at Spice Temple restaurant, or sister restaurants Rosetta Ristorante and Rockpool Bar & Grill, which is located next door.

Late-night hours also accommodate after-dinner drinks and offer an intimate, upbeat, after-dark setting for Crown visitors and guests to extend an evening’s entertainment without leaving the convenience of the Southbank complex.

A refurbishment retains the seductive Spice Temple ambience with a palette of dark timber, burnished orange leather and velvet upholstered seating, gold finishings, and dark marble tabletops. The sultry tone is enhanced with ambient lighting, including soft table and wall lamps. Eastern references are evident in artwork, and the moody sparkle of candles and lantern-style floor lamps that trace the corridor entrance.

Small booths and tables for two offer intimacy, while high bar stools allow the advantage of watching theatrical cocktail making in action, whilst also providing an inconspicuous spot for solo diners.

The value-driven bar menu caters to the current demand for more affordable dining options. Many Spice Temple signature dishes feature in smaller portion sizes, as well as light bites conveniently designed to eat by hand, so guests can easily juggle a delightful combination of well-priced food and drinks. Dishes strike an unparalleled balance between Spice Temple’s one-of-a-kind flavour profile.

A bespoke cocktail list is exclusive to Spice Temple Bar, while the restaurant’s signature Zodiac cocktails also have a home on an expansive drinks list, which is bolstered by a range of local and international beers, wines and spirits. Spice Hour is available seven days a week from 4pm to 5.30pm.

Executive Chef Andy Evans said the new bar experience aimed to bridge a gap for a high-end, late-night dining destination that blended great value, quality and convenience.

Spice Temple Bar borrowed from Executive Chef Andy Evans’ much-loved and internationally renowned, regional Chinese menu to offer high-quality, smaller plates and snackable items featuring premium produce, which provide an alternative to full a la carte dining.

Spice Temple Bar is open Monday to Sunday from 4pm to late. No bookings are taken, walk-ins are welcome.
